Congresswoman Hirono Announces $413,873 in Federal Funding
for Nanaikapono Elementary School
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Mazie K. Hirono (D-Hawai`i) today announced a $413,873 U.S. Department of Education grant for professional development programs and on-campus assistance at Nanaikapono Elementary School in Nanakuli, O`ahu.
The funding will primarily be used for the professional development of the school’s teachers, in the form of workshops as well as advancement courses through the University of Hawai`i.
The grant also supports three on-campus staff positions that provide classroom and curriculum development support for the school’s Pre-K through the sixth grade classes.
The funding is provided through the U.S. Department of Education’s Education of Native Hawaiians Program.
