Dreier Statement on Senator McCain’s Calls for Bipartisan Action on Economy

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas, CA), Ranking Republican of the House Rules Committee, issued the following statement today regarding Senator John McCain’s decision to return to Washington and help build bipartisan support for a rescue package for the economy:

          “Senator McCain is absolutely correct that the crisis facing our economy needs urgent attention.  I applaud his decision to suspend his campaign and return to Washington to work on a bipartisan solution on behalf of the American people.  Retirements, college funds, and even people’s homes are on the line with this crisis.  We need to act in a responsible, bipartisan way.  It’s my hope that we can all come together and achieve consensus for the good of the American people.”
