Economic Stimulus with Congressman DonnellyThank you for visiting my Online Tax Resource Center. I understand that Hoosiers pay too much in taxes, and that is why I created this resource center.

The Economic Stimulus Package

On February 7, the House passed a bipartisan economic stimulus package to provide economic relief to those who need it most. The bill, which has since been signed into law, includes a one-time tax rebate of up to $600 for individuals and $1,200 for couples, with an additional $300 per child. In order to receive a refund, however, all individuals must file a 2007 tax return form. Also, the earlier one files his return for 2007, the faster the IRS will be able to process his rebate. It is expected that the IRS will begin to deliver checks by early summer.

Seniors and Veterans

In order to receive a refund check, all seniors and veterans need to file a tax return, even if they did not pay federal income taxes last year. For individuals who receive social security or veteran benefits, but who do not normally file a tax return, the IRS has produced a special form that highlights the specific sections that need to be filled out in order to qualify for a tax rebate.

Seniors can access a sample form at: http://www.irs.gov/pub/newsroom/1040a.pdf

The actual form to be filled out can be accessed here: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040a.pdf
