Washington, DC -- The national religious freedom advocacy organization In God We Trust today awarded Representative David Davis its “Sacred Fire of Liberty Award” for his support of congressional efforts to guarantee the freedom of public officials to practice their faith in public.
“David Davis is a tireless defender of our nation’s religious heritage and the rights of its citizens to include faith in public life,” explained Council Nedd, In God We Trust’s Chairman, at a Capitol Hill ceremony today. “He is a proud cosponsor of the landmark Public Prayer Protection Act (H.R. 2104) which would protect the rights of public officials to participate in religious activities without the threat of lawsuits. His brave and steadfast support of the freedom of religion is refreshing and is welcomed by millions of Americans who fear that a very small minority is using the court system to drive religion underground and completely out of public life. I am proud to award In God We Trust’s Sacred Fire of Liberty Award to a true patriot.”
