CONGRESSMAN DAVID DAVIS VOTES AGAINST TAXPAYER FUNDED WALL STREET BAILOUT
- Congressman Davis stated, “As an elected official chosen to represent the interests of over 600,000 people in East Tennessee, I am very cognizant of the current fiscal crisis and the far reaching effects this crisis continues to have on the lives of everyday East Tennesseans.  With that said, the problem has never been about whether or not Congress should attempt to address the problem.  Unfortunately, this measure was hoisted upon us with little or no opportunity to consider alternatives that would reduce the risk to taxpayers and future generations to come. Members of Tennessee Delegation Request Drought Declaration for 28 Counties
- U.S. Senators Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) and Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) and U.S. Representatives David Davis (R-Tenn. 1), John J. Duncan, Jr. (R-Tenn. 2), Zach Wamp (R-Tenn. 3), Lincoln Davis (D-Tenn. 4), Bart Gordon (D-Tenn. 6), and John Tanner (D-Tenn. 8) today joined in requesting that U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Edward Schafer issue an agricultural disaster declaration for 28 counties across Tennessee to help farmers who have suffered crop and livestock losses as a result of persistent drought conditions.
