VISITING THE CAPITOL

If you are a constituent of California's 39th Congressional district, then tours of various Washington DC sites may be available through my office. All tickets are free of charge but are on a first come first served basis. To inquire about such a tour, please fill out the my online tour request form.

The U.S. Capitol
Tours of the Capitol are given both by the Capitol Guide Service (groups of up to 40 persons) or by a member of our staff (no more than 15 persons). Tours of the Capitol include visits to the Crypt, Rotunda, National Statuary Hall, the Old Supreme Court Chamber, and the House Gallery.

The White House
Tours of the Executive Residence are once again open to the public and available Tuesday through Saturday from 7:30am to 11:30am. Tours of the White House fill quickly, so it is best to get your request in far ahead of your trip. Tours of the White House are self-guided and include the Cross Hall, the State Dining Room, the East Room, and the Blue, Red and Green Rooms.

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing
Congressional VIP tours of the Bureau are available Monday through Friday at 8:15am and 8:45am. Please note that the further in advance a request is made, the better chances are for getting a reserved tour spot. Tours are approximately 40 minutes.

The Supreme Court
Tours are available Monday through Friday at 2:00pm when the court is not sitting. This tour lasts approximately 30 minutes.

The Library of Congress
Congressional VIP tours are available Monday through Friday at 8:30am and 2:00pm. A member of the Library staff will guide you on a tour of the Jefferson Building and introduce you to the “American Treasures” exhibit.

The National Archives
A special “Behind the Scenes” tour of the Archives is available Monday through Friday at 10:15am and 1:15pm. This tour includes a viewing of select original documents from the Archive's holdings, participation in staff-led hands-on activities, and the Rotunda containing the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.

The National Postal Museum
Guided VIP tours are available daily at 11:00am and 1:00pm.

The State Department
Tours of the State Department are available Monday through Friday at 9:30am, 10:30am and 2:45pm. A State Department staff member will lead you on a tour of Diplomatic Reception Rooms and the Department’s collection of 18th American furniture, paintings and decorative arts. This is a fine arts tour and is not recommended for children under 12.

The Kennedy Center
VIP Tours of the Kennedy Center are available daily at 10:00am and 1:00pm. The tour includes visits to the various performing arts facilities used at the Kennedy Center.

George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens
Congressional VIP tours are available until October 31st. This is a walking tour of the grounds. Visitors may then take a self guided tour of the Mansion. Admission is $11.00 for adults, $10.50 for seniors, $5.00 for children 6-11. Admission for children 5 and under is free.

Please note FBI, State Department and Pentagon tours are closed until further notice.
