Dear Veteran or Volunteer,
Thank you for your interest in participating in the Veterans History Project (VHP) at the Library of Congress. This Project preserves interviews of veterans and your participation will ensure that veterans in the 21st Congressional District are included in this historic collection.
The VHP honors veterans and civilian workers by collecting stories of their service. The VHP, created by Congress in 2000, relies on volunteer efforts to document stories of Americas’ veterans. The collections are archived at the Library of Congress and made available to researchers and the general public.
If you would like to share your story or interview someone you know for the project, please follow the steps below to have it included in the Project: 1. Visit the Veterans History Project Website
2. Register with Veterans History Project using the online form.
3. Print the Veterans History Project Field Kit (required forms).
4. Prepare and conduct the interview.
5. Send your collection to the 21st District Office in San Antonio:
San Antonio Office 1100 NE Loop 410 Suite 640 San Antonio, TX 78209 210-821-5024
6. I will hand-deliver your interview to the Library of Congress.
Again, thank you for your interest in this important project. Please contact my Washington, D.C. office if you have questions regarding the Project at (202) 225-4236.
Sincerely,
Lamar Smith
