Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee Halts Request For 2009 Inauguration Tickets

Jackson Lee States, “The Large Volume Of People Requesting Inauguration Tickets Comes As No Surprise. It Is History Like Our Nation Has Never

Washington, DC- Today, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee announces that her office will no longer be taking inauguration ticket requests for the Inauguration of the 44th President of the United States.

“I am highly enthused by the interest shown by a large amount of my constituents to attend the inauguration of the 44th President of the United States.  At this time, we have stopped taking ticket requests for the Inauguration due to the overwhelming interest.  We have received more than 2,600 requests for inauguration tickets and only 198 tickets to distribute.  During the month of December, we will post a notice as to the procedure for the distribution of these tickets on my website at www.jacksonlee.house.gov.  I would like to thank all of my constituents and friends for their vigorous interest in the political process during this historic time in American history as we prepare for the Inauguration of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama.”

“The large volume of people requesting inauguration tickets comes as no surprise. It is history like our nation has never seen before and everyone wants to be apart of it. The fact that so many of my constituents want to attend this inauguration illustrates the seriousness in which they take their civic duties and the call for change in Washington. As a senior Member of Congress, I will be diligently working with President-elect Obama to ensure that happens.”
