Jordan Announces Grant for McGuffey Volunteer Fire Company

Washington, DC -- Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) announced today that the Department of Homeland Security has approved a $159,838 vehicle acquisition grant for the McGuffey Volunteer Fire Company.

The funding is made available through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program, through which DHS will award roughly $500 million to fire departments and other emergency responders across the nation this year.

“This is outstanding news for McGuffey,” Jordan said.  “This grant, which is the second largest awarded to a Hardin County department in the history of the AFG Program, will help McGuffey’s first responders be better prepared to fight fires and save lives.”

Since the program’s inception in 2001, nearly $11.4 million has been awarded to fire departments in Ohio’s Fourth Congressional District.  McGuffey received AFG Program funding in 2004 and 2005.
