Rep. Allen's 2007 Academy Nominees

Nominees "have already demonstrated their deep commitment to scholarship and to our country"

Portland, Maine (Monday, December 3, 2007)-- U.S. Representative Tom Allen today announced that he has nominated 22 outstanding young Maine men and women for appointment to the Army, Navy, Air Force and Merchant Marine Academies.

"I congratulate these fine young men and women whom I have nominated for admission to U.S. military academies," said. Rep. Allen. "They have already demonstrated their deep commitment to scholarship and to our country."

U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York

Maria Anania, is the daughter of Edward and Barbara Anania of Portland, and a senior at Portland High School.

Brooks Lord Blackler, is the son of Mark and Tamara Blackler of Jefferson, and a senior at Erskine Academy.

Conor Cain, is the son of Terence and Kelly Cain of Scarborough, and a senior at Cheverus High School.

Travis Griffin, is the son of Jay and Julie Griffin of Scarborough, and is currently attending the United States Military Academy Preparatory School in New Jersey.

Zachary Jackman, is the son of Brian Jackman and Kimberly and Jonathan West of South Berwick, and is currently attending the University of Maine at Orono.

Sebastian Van Dintel, is the son of Arie and Lisa Van Dintel of Berwick, and a senior at the Van Dintel Home School.

U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colorado

Dennis Boyd, is the son of Ernest and Cheryl Boyd of Nobleboro, and a senior at Lincoln Academy.

Katy Dunkelberger, is the daughter of L.B. and Gretchen Dunkelberger of Eliot, and a senior at Marshwood High School.

Nicholas Mercurio is the son of John and Gayle Mercurio of York Harbor, and a senior at York High School.

Michael Piazza, is the son of Charles and Cheryl Piazza of York, and a senior at Northern Lights Academy.

Daniel Scully, is the son of Patrick and Deborah Scully of Brunswick, and a senior at Brunswick High School.

U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland

Brooke Amoroso, is the daughter of Gino and Martha Amoroso of South Portland, currently stationed in Germany, and a senior at Frankfurt International School in Oberursel, Germany.

Brandon Carroll, is the son of James and Dawn Carroll of Scarborough, and a senior at Scarborough High School.

Andrew Cohn, is the son of Phyllis Cohn and Tom Bradley of Cape Elizabeth, and a senior at Cape Elizabeth High School.

James Cryer, is the son of Tyson and Martha Cryer of Wells, and a senior at Wells High School.

William Day, is the son of Douglas Day and Judith Parker-Day of Portland, and a senior at Deering High School.

Katy Dunkelberger, is the daughter of L.B. and Gretchen Dunkelberger of Eliot, and a senior at Marshwood High School.

Nicole Glab, is the daughter of Urszula B. and Janusz M. Glab of Scarborough, and a senior at Scarborough High School.

Matthew Wagner, is the son of Scott and Lisa Wagner of York, and is currently attending Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont.

Emily Wells, is the daughter of Christopher and Melinda Wells of Bremen, and a senior at Lincoln Academy.

U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York

Daniel Edgerly, is the son of Robert and Susan Edgerly of Dayton, and a senior at Thornton Academy.
