Cantor Honors Troops on Memorial Day

RICHMOND, VA- Congressman Eric Cantor (VA-07) released the following statement in honor of Memorial Day:

“On this Memorial Day we pay tribute to those who dedicated their lives to defending our nation and made the ultimate sacrifice. I join with fellow Americans in thanking God for blessing us with men and women who have served in uniform defending our freedom; we are a nation deeply in debt to them and their families. May we continue to keep America’s service men and women in our thoughts and prayers.

“Ronald Reagan said it best as he stood on Omaha Beach on the 40th Anniversary of D-Day: ‘Today, in their memory, and for all who fought here, we celebrate the triumph of democracy. We reaffirm the unity of democratic people who fought a war and then joined with the vanquished in a firm resolve to keep the peace. We will always remember. We will always be proud. We will always be prepared, so we may always be free.’

“We must continue to honor those who share in the sacrifice of service so that we might continue to enjoy the blessings of freedom. Our men and women who served remain a testament to the spirit of our nation and the values we hold dear. It is our duty to safeguard what they have so bravely secured by honoring and remembering their service and selflessness.”
