ROTC Scholarship

Another means to achieve a college education and a commission in the military is through the government sponsored various ROTC programs offered at many colleges and universities.  The current programs cover full tuition plus an annual supplement for text books.  In addition, some schools also offer free room and board to scholarship recipients.  Use the following web sits to apply for these programs: www.goarmy.com/ROTC; www.NROTC.Navy.mil; www.AFROTC.com.  Unlike the service academies, no nomination is required to be eligible for one of these 3 or 4-year scholarships.

Age: Be at least 17, but have passed 26th birthday at the start of the entering school year.

Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen.

Marital Status: May be married, not pregnant, and have no legal obligation to support children or other dependents.

General Eligibility Standards: Each branch of the military will consider evidence of character, scholarship, leadership, physical aptitude, medical fitness, goals, motivation and desired curriculum in determining each candidate’s evaluation.
