Tax Relief
I am a firm believer that the American people are over-taxed. They are working harder then ever for their money and taking home less of it because the federal government continues to tax them at an extremely high level.
It is for this reason that I voted for the "Economic and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act" which was signed into law, returning money to every taxpaying American while eventually phasing-out the Marriage Penalty and the Death Tax. This is certainly a step in the right direction. By 2000, taxes paid to the federal government had risen to their highest level since World War II. This tax relief bill changed that, reducing the tax burden.
I believe that the current income tax system is fundamentally flawed and in need of major overhaul. It is my intention to work with my colleagues in Congress to address the inequities in the current system and find a system that reduces the tax burden that the American people currently face.
