Throughout this past year, Congressman Space has fought to provide economic development not only for Ross County, but also for the entire region. Listed below you will find some of the projects that will make a significant impact on the lives of residents living in Ross County:

• Listening to the Concerns of Our Heroic Veterans – As a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Congressman Space is proud to advocate for the needs of veterans. In March of last year, he met with veterans in Chillicothe to hear about their needs and concerns. When the VA budget came before Congress, he supported the largest increase in funding in the VA’s history.
• Listening to the Concerns of Our Farmers – In February of last year, Congressman Space held a listening session in Chillicothe to address the needs and concerns of local farmers.
• Learning about the State of Health Care – Last August, Congressman Space visited Adena Hospital on a hospital tour. He learned that rural, acute care hospitals often represent the only access to hospital care available to the entire county and face unique obstacles as a result.
• Fighting Domestic Abuse – Stop Victims in Ross County will receive $305,000 in funding Congressman Space requested to hire three full-time staff to arrest and prosecute domestic abusers and to educate other police officers on how to respond to the domestic abuse cases that are so devastating to families and children.
• Saving the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) – Congressman Space worked in Congress to reverse drastic proposed budget cuts for the ARC. The Commission has been an economic engine since President John F. Kennedy set in motion its creation in the 1960s. In fact, in 2007 Congress actually increased the ARC funding to $73 million, the first increase in nearly a decade.
