Throughout this past year, Congressman Space has fought to provide economic development not only for Holmes County, but also for the entire region. Listed below you will find some of the projects that will make a significant impact on the lives of residents living in Holmes County:

• Keeping Farmers Linked in to Policy Changes – Congressman Space hosted an information session at Holmes County Senior Center in Millersburg to update local farmers and interested residents on the status of the Farm Bill, the latest reauthorization of major government programs impacting agriculture.
• Learning about the State of Health Care - Last August, Congressman Space visited Pomerene Hospital on a hospital tour. He learned that rural, acute care hospitals often represent the only access to hospital care available to the entire county and face unique obstacles as a result.
• Preserving Natural Spaces – Congressman Space secured $735,000 for the Holmes County Trail to fund Phase 5, which will build the final section of the trail, which handles pedestrian and buggy traffic and is part of the 370 mile Ohio-to-Erie Trail.
• Securing Our Local Assets – Holmes County Disaster Mitigation will receive $200,000 in funding Congressman Space requested for homeland security preparation to relocate the Holmes County Fairgrounds. The previous area was prone to severe, dangerous flash floods, and the move will make the facility safer and easier to operate.
• Saving the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) – Congressman Space worked in Congress to reverse drastic proposed budget cuts for the ARC. The Commission has been an economic engine since President John F. Kennedy set in motion its creation in the 1960s. In fact, Congress actually increased the ARC funding to $73 million, the first increase in nearly a decade.
