Coshocton

Throughout this past year, Congressman Space has fought to provide economic development not only for Coshocton County, but also for the entire region. Listed below you will find some of the projects that will make a significant impact on the lives of residents living in Coshocton County:

  • Listening to Community Concerns – Congressman Space hosted listening sessions in Fresno and Coshocton, one to address the concerns of constituents and the other to respond to the specific needs and problems of farmers in the area.
  • Learning about the State of Health Care – Last August, Congressman Space visited Coshocton County Memorial Hospital on a hospital tour. He learned that rural, acute care hospitals often represent the only access to hospital care available to the entire county and face unique obstacles as a result.
  • Investing in Sustainable Agriculture – Congressman Space secured $99,000 for the Grazing Research Project at the North Appalachian Experimental Watershed to conduct research that will benefit both herds and conservation efforts.
  • Fighting Drug Abuse – Congressman Space secured $284,820 in funding for Central Ohio’s Drug Enforcement Task Force, which services Coshocton County, to make important equipment upgrades and clean up dangerous meth labs.
  • Saving the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) – Congressman Space worked in Congress to reverse drastic proposed budget cuts for the ARC. The Commission has been an economic engine since President John F. Kennedy set in motion its creation in the 1960s. In fact, in 2007 Congress actually increased the ARC funding to $73 million, the first increase in nearly a decade.

Congressman Space pledges to continue working to ensure that the 18th District receives the support necessary to spur economic growth, maintain a functional infrastructure, and meet the needs of residents.
