SPACE RECEIVES A+ LEGISLATIVE SCORE FROM NON-PARTISAN VETERANS GROUP

- Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America Gives Space a Perfect Rating on Veterans’ Issues -

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In recognition of his dedication to America’s veterans, Congressman Zack Space (OH-18) has been awarded an A+ rating from the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) for his efforts on behalf of our nation’s veterans.

“Protecting and advocating for our nation’s veterans has been one of the top priorities of my work in Congress,” Space said. “I fought for a seat on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee so I could improve the treatment of America’s veterans and advocate for their interests. I am honored to be recognized by the IAVA and will continue to work for our fighting men and women.”

IAVA is an independent, not-for-profit advocacy group dedicated to veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Founded in 2004, IAVA released a report card yesterday of congressional voting records, scoring lawmakers on a 15 point scale. Congressman Space received a score of 15 out of 15.

The IAVA chose 13 specific pieces of legislation from the 110th Congress to rate, including support of increases in veterans health care and co-sponsorship of the Post-9/11 GI Bill, which dramatically expanded education benefits for returning veterans. The bill represented the most comprehensive improvement to the Montgomery GI Bill in more than 60 years.

Congressman Space has represented Ohio's 18th Congressional District since 2007. He is working to restore integrity to the office, expand Ohio's economy, and support renewable energy.
