REP. HERSETH SANDLIN ACCEPTING INTERN APPLICATIONS

Seeks Interns for Programs in Washington, Sioux Falls, Rapid City and Aberdeen

November 14, 2008 - The Office of United States Representative Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (SD-AL) is currently accepting applications for spring internships in her Washington, D.C., Aberdeen, Rapid City, and Sioux Falls offices. South Dakota natives who are current college students are strongly encouraged to apply.

“I would encourage anyone who is interested in government or the political process to apply for an internship within any of my offices,” commented Rep. Herseth Sandlin. “With the many challenges ahead of us, this is an opportune time for interns to garner valuable skill sets and see the federal government hard at work.”

The Washington DC internship will offer direct exposure to a wide range of duties in a Congressional office, including attending House hearings and briefings and responding to constituent concerns. State office internships include involvement in day-to-day contact with South Dakotans who need assistance with federal government programs and conducting outreach in the surrounding areas.

Interns can work full or part-time depending upon their schedule. The Office of Representative Herseth Sandlin will assist students in working with their institution to provide college credit hours. A stipend is available to Washington D.C interns to assist with their housing needs while living in the metro area.

The deadline for spring intern applicants is December 1st. Applications are located on our Web site at: http://hersethsandlin.house.gov/internships.htm

All applications can be directed to Intern Coordinator Mike Traxinger via e-mail at Mike.Traxinger@mail.house.gov or by fax to (202) 225-5823.
