The 2009 Presidential Inauguration

Please read all the information here carefully and completely to ensure that your visit to the Inaugural ceremonies goes smoothly. We have already received an unprecedented number of ticket requests to the historic Inaugural Swearing-In Ceremony of the 44th President of the United States Barack Obama.

We will be distributing tickets free of charge ONLY to residents of New York's 19th Congressional District. Unfortunately, we do not yet know how many tickets our office will be allocated. However, we do know that we will receive far fewer tickets than the number needed to meet all requests and we cannot guarantee that every request will be accommodated. Most tickets will be for standing room and we will get a very limited number of tickets for seats at the event.

Tickets are unlikely to be distributed before January. To be eligible for tickets, you MUST fill out the Ticket Request Form below.

Capitol Tours
Public tours of the Capitol will be suspended from 5 pm on Saturday, January 17, until Wednesday, January 21. Our office would be pleased to arrange a tour of the Capitol for you at another time.

Accommodations, Weather, and Parking
Hotel space in Washington, DC during Inauguration week will be extremely limited. More people are anticipated to visit DC than there are hotel rooms available. Parking will be severely restricted on the Inauguration Day, and all visitors are strongly encouraged to take public transportation into downtown Washington, DC.

Balls, Galas, Parties, and the Parade
The Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC), formed by the President-elect, is responsible for most of the official balls and galas, as well as the Inaugural Day parade.  Ticket requests for these and other official events should be directed to the PIC.
