The Hudson Valley is proud to be home to vibrant farming communities that play a vital role in driving the local economy and managing the region’s natural resources.  As our farmers face increasingly aggressive competition from foreign growers, higher energy costs, and the need to cope with natural disasters, it is absolutely critical that we work to ensure that local farms have the tools and resources they need to continue to thrive.
 
As Congress gets ready to work on a new Farm Bill, I am completely committed to making sure that the crops grown in the Hudson Valley receive their fair share of federal farm programs, that the conservation programs like the Farmland Preservation Program, which benefit our region and help preserve our open spaces get full support, and that we develop new innovative ways to market Hudson Valley agricultural products.
