Scalise Congratulates Imagination Movers

Imagination Movers, who live and film in CD-1, Renewed for Second Season

Wednesday, December 10, 2008

Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today congratulated the Imagination Movers for being renewed for a second season by the Disney Channel. Scalise also points out the economic impact their television show has on the region.

“Congratulations to the Imagination Movers on being renewed by Disney for a second season. It’s great to see local people gain positive national recognition and to see their hard work pay off,” Scalise said. “The Imagination Movers and the growing film industry have provided the region with thousands of good, high paying jobs, not to mention an entertaining show. My 21-month old daughter Madison loves the Imagination Movers and their positive message! I commend Disney Studios for making such a strong commitment to the New Orleans region by renewing the Imagination Movers for a second season and for continuing to film the series in the New Orleans area.”

While in the Louisiana Legislature in 2002, Steve Scalise authored legislation that provides tax incentives for the film industry, called the Louisiana Motion Picture Incentives Act. Imagination Movers started filming in Elmwood, shortly after the legislation became law. Last year the industry provided more than 3,000 jobs in Louisiana and brought more than $500 million in economic impact to the state.

The members of the Imagination Movers, as well as the Elmwood film studios are located in Scalise’s Congressional District.
