Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is awarding a $1 million grant to Jefferson Parish for Head Start projects.

“Education and development are fundamentals of a strong society and this funding will help give more children the opportunity to succeed in their communities,” Scalise said.

This grant will be used for the Jefferson Parish Head Start program. The funds will be distributed between nine Head Start Centers in Jefferson Parish. Jefferson Parish has now received a total of $4 million for the centers. $2 million more will awarded at a later date.
