Hawaii's Legislation Reacts to the Bail Out Plan

HONOLULU -- Congressman Neil Abercrombie thinks they don't have enough time to review the 110-page bill, and says so far, he's not convinced that the taxpayers will be protected.

Abercrombie says, "I think they want to be able to vote Tomorrow morning and I think that's much too early."

"Nobody in the country will have had an opportunity to review it, let alone out in Hawaii and get their remarks to me so I'm very skeptical about voting for, make such a commitment on such short notice."

Congresswoman Mazie Hirono said in a statement quote -- "I want to make sure that this bill provides adequate oversight, protection for the taxpayer, limits on executive compensation, and assistance to homeowners.... whatever happens with this vote, we have much more work to do. We must address the lax regulation that caused this debacle."

Neither Senator Daniel Inouye nor Senator Daniel Akaka were available for comment.
