The deadline for requesting tickets - November 30, 2008 - has passed. 

Information for the 2009 Presidential Inauguration

Please read this information carefully and completely and follow the steps below to request tickets to attend the Inauguration ceremony on January 20, 2009.

  1. We have already received hundreds of requests for tickets and will not be able to accommodate all of them;
  2. Tickets are for standing (not seated) areas only;
  3. If you are selected from our lottery process to be a recipient of tickets, you will be required to pick them up at our Washington, DC office in person with ID – tickets will NOT be mailed;
  4. Our lottery process will occur in early December but if you have not already confirmed your accommodations and flights to Washington, DC, you should do so immediately. The city is expected to be fully booked.

Questions & Answers

What about balls, galas, parties and the parade?

The Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC), formed by the President-elect, is responsible for most of the official balls and galas, as well as the Inaugural Day parade.  Ticket requests for these and other official events should be directed to the PIC at 202-224-2228.  The Arizona State Society Ball tickets and information can be found at www.azstatesociety.org.

How do I get to the inauguration and parade?

Parking will be severely limited on the Inauguration Day.  Visitors are strongly encouraged to take public transportation. 

Can I get a Capitol tour too?

Public tours of the Capitol will be suspended from 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, until Wednesday, January 21.  If you would like to request any tours through our office while you are in Washington, DC, please fill out the tour form.

What will the weather be like?

January is historically cold and wet. Crowds will be very large, and you will likely be outside in the cold for several hours.
