WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH) today made the following statement regarding the decision by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to locate a new outpatient clinic in Brattleboro, Vermont, instead of Keene, New Hampshire.
“While I am disappointed that the Department of Veterans Affairs did not select Keene as the location for a new outpatient clinic, establishing a clinic in Brattleboro, Vermont, is a significant improvement for New Hampshire veterans. The location of this new facility will eliminate long travel distances and ensure veterans living in southwestern New Hampshire have access to primary care close to their homes. I strongly supported locating the new facility in Keene because of the established medical community in that area, which could easily serve veterans needs. Although I would have preferred a different outcome, I am grateful that the VA has increased services in the Granite State in recent years, including the establishment of radiological services at the Manchester VA Medical Center and new outpatient clinics in Berlin and Somersworth. I intend to continue my work to ensure that services within our state are expanded and enhanced so that New Hampshire veterans get the health care they have earned and deserve.”
