Shelby Announces $109,600 for Black Warrior River Scenic Byway Corridor

November 21, 2008

Washington, D.C. -

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration has awarded $109,600 to the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) for the development of the Black Warrior River Scenic Byway Corridor Management Plan.

“The 12-mile Black Warrior River Scenic Byway is one of Alabama’s most impressive roadways,” said Shelby.  “For this reason, we must do all we can to enhance this roadway.  By ensuring the development of a corridor management plan, installing byway signage, and publishing an informational visitor’s brochure, all travelers along the Corridor will benefit.”
