Washington, D.C. -

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science, today announced that the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) will release $159,000 to the Top of Alabama Regional Council of Governments.  This funding will be used to develop and implement a comprehensive economic strategy that will support capital investment and job creation in the region.

“It is critical that Alabama’s government and businesses work together to strengthen the economies of our local communities,” said Shelby.  “These funds will help facilitate economic development throughout the region served by the Top of Alabama Regional Council of Governments.”

The Top of Alabama Regional Council of Governments is comprised of DeKalb, Jackson, Limestone, Madison, and Marshall counties.
