Shelby Announces $159,000 for Economic Development in East Alabama

Washington, D.C. -

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science, today announced that the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) will release $159,000 to the East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission.  This funding will be used to develop and implement a comprehensive economic strategy that will support capital investment and job creation in the region.

“It is important that government entities and businesses work together to strengthen our local economies,” said Shelby. “This funding will create new opportunities and aid in economic development for East Alabama.”

The East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission is comprised of Calhoun, Chambers, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Etowah, Randolph, Talladega, and Tallapoosa counties.
