Shelby Announces $68,115 for Pebble Fire Department

December 5, 2008

Washington, D.C. -

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the Department of Homeland Security will release $68,115 to the Pebble Fire Department in Winston County.  The funding is provided through the Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program.

“This essential funding will assist the Pebble Fire Department fund its operations and safety programs,” said Shelby.  “Our nation’s firefighters are true first responders. This funding will ensure that they are adequately prepared for any event, should one occur.”

The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency awarded these funds as a part of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. This program will distribute $500 million in direct federal assistance this year to fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations nationwide.
