United States Senator George Voinovich
Constituent Services - Casework Constituent Services
From time to time, Ohioans get caught up in bureaucratic red tape when dealing with the many agencies of the federal government.

Whether it's a glitch in getting their Social Security check, a denial of rightfully deserved veteran's benefits or a problem with the IRS, people need to know that they can count on their elected officials to help them sort out such matters.

My Columbus casework office works to bring a positive resolution to the many difficulties Ohioans may have with the government. Last year our office helped Ohioans by opening more than 6,100 cases and bringing approximately three-fourths of them to a successful close.

Congressional caseworkers assume the role of a liaison between the Ohio constituent and the appropriate government agency. The caseworker is responsible for exploring all avenues that are available for resolution of the constituent's concern.

Unfortunately, due to the separation of the legislative and judicial branches of government, members of Congress are prohibited from intervening in any matter involving the proceedings, judgments or sentences of any court of law. This includes legal disputes, child custody issues and divorce cases. Since my office is prohibited from making referrals to private attorneys, you may want to contact your local bar association or county legal service office for additional assistance in these matters.

If you are seeking assistance with a case that involves a state or local government agency, you should contact your Ohio State Senator or Ohio State Representative. Any inquiries that you send to my office that involves a state or local organization will be forwarded to your state and/or local representatives.

All casework is handled in my Columbus office. That office may be contacted at:

Senator George Voinovich
37 West Broad Street, Room 300
Columbus, Ohio 43215

If you are contacting me regarding a time-sensitive casework matter, please call my office directly at 1-800-205-6446. I will also need a Privacy Authorization form completed that gives my staff the authority to handle your request. Also, please attach a clear and concise letter describing the situation with which you require help. My office is unable to initiate an inquiry on your behalf via e-mail.

The office also operates a casework toll-free number at: 1-800-205-6446, or simply: 1-800-205-OHIO.
