Energy Speculation


The Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations has held three hearings on energy prices.  The most recent hearing explored issues of market manipulation and regulation. The Subcommittee investigation thusfar has revealed that the unregulated markets have grown to be as large or larger than regulated markets, bringing into question the integrity of the entire energy derivatives market.

Food Safety


The Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations has held five hearings on the safety and security of the Nation's food supply.  The hearings have focused on food contamination outbreaks beginning in April 2007 to present.  Such contaminations involved spinach, lettuce, peanut butter, wheat gluten in pet food, tomatoes, and peppers.
