DONATION ASSISTANCE FOR GREENSBURG, KANSAS

Those donations can be made through the American Red Cross at 785-234-0568 or the Salvation Army by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY or at www.armykettle.com. The United Way in Kansas has a call center for persons wishing to donate or volunteer. In Kansas, dial 211 or toll-free at 1-888-413-4327.  Only cash contributions are currently needed for those impacted by the storms. Contributions of clothing and other commodities are not needed at the present time. In all cases, please note that the cash contributions should be designated for those affected by the Greensburg tornado or other weather-related disasters in Kansas.

tornado disaster in Greensburg, KansasUnited Way of the Plains announced that it has set up a Greensburg Disaster Fund to serve as a central collection point for anyone wishing to make a monetary contribution to help tornado victims in the Greensburg, Kansas area. A disaster such as this requires the services of many organizations. United Way is setting up this fund to provide a vehicle for that help. The United Way Greensburg Disaster Fund will distribute contributions to agencies that will be providing services to tornado victims. Donors should make checks payable to United Way Greensburg Disaster Fund, and mail to United Way of the Plains, 245 N. Water, Wichita, KS 67202.

Residents and business owners who sustained losses in the designated counties can begin applying for disaster assistance by registering online at http://www.fema.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA(3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for the hearing and speech impaired. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (CDT). FEMA is also in the area to register people.
