PROPERTY TAX RELIEF FOR NEW JERSEYANS IN 2008

A provision which was origingally introduced by Sen. Menendez in 2006 and included in the recently enacted Federal Housing Rescue and Foreclosure Prevention Act will provide additional tax relief to homeowners who do not itemize on their federal tax returns. The law allows single-filing property taxpayers to take an additional standard deduction of $500 and joint filers to deduct $1,000 for state and local property taxes paid. According to the New Jersey Department of Taxation, nearly 600,000 New Jersey seniors, disabled veterans, low income constituents, and empty nesters will benefit

Inaugural 2009
Due to historic demand for Inaugural Swearing-in Ceremony tickets, Senators Menendez and Lautenberg are no longer accepting ticket requests. However, tickets are only needed for a reserved area of the National Mall - the rest of the Mall is open to everyone.

What you need to know about Digital Television (DTV) Transition
In 2005, Congress set a hard deadline of February 17, 2009, for television stations to replace traditional analog broadcasts with digital broadcasts, known as the "Digital Television Transition (DTV Transition)", and was done to expand service and provide more options to consumers.

If you currently rely on rabbit ears or a roof top antenna AND have an analog television, after February 17, 2009, you no longer will be able to receive television programming that way.
