*** The enactment of the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2007 made changes to Senate Ethics Rules and standards in such areas as gifts, employment negotiations, influencing hiring decisions and lobbying by immediate family members. Regarding these changes, the guidance issued by the Committee after September 14, 2007, replaces the guidance in the Ethics Manual and in the Overview of the Senate Code of Conduct. See, for example, the links at the top of this page and in the "Recent Updates & Notices" section on this page.
