WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today Congressman David Wu announced a call for applications to the U.S. House of Representatives Congressional Page Program in Washington, DC.  Congressman Wu has been selected to nominate a congressional page for the 2009 spring session of the Congressional Page Program, which begins with check-in on Sunday, January 25, 2009 and ends on Saturday, June 6, 2009.  The nominee will participate in the Page School program and earn high school credit while working as a House Page.

"This is a tremendous opportunity for young people to see firsthand how our federal government works on a day-to-day basis, as well as a chance to meet other students from around the country who share their interest in public service," said Wu.  "Pages provide a vital service to members of Congress by delivering correspondence, answering phones in the Member Cloakrooms, and preparing the House Floor for sessions.  I am looking forward to nominating an outstanding student from the 1st Congressional District to participate in this historic program."

Qualified applicants must be at least sixteen years old prior to the start of the program and enrolled as a junior in high school.  They must be a citizen or permanent legal resident of the United States and a full-time resident of the 1st Congressional District.  In addition, applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA in their major subjects.
