Daniel E. Lungren (CA), Ranking Member

LungrenU.S. Rep. Dan Lungren returned to Congress in November 2004, representing California’s 3rd Congressional District. Lungren was first elected to Congress in 1978, where he served until 1990. From 1991 through 1999, Lungren served as Attorney General of California and was instrumental in reducing crime, helping author California’s “Three Strikes Law” as well as “Megan’s Law.”

As Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Transportation Security and Infrastructure Protection, Lungren develops and implements strategies to protect mass transit, rail, and other transportation networks against terrorist attacks.

In addition to his duties on the Committee on Homeland Security, Rep. Lungren also serves on the House Judiciary, Administration, and Budget Committees.


Jurisdiction: TSA; aviation security; mass transit and rail security; surface transportation security; critical infrastructure protection efforts at the Department; public-private partnerships to secure various sectors and infrastructure; protection of government assets; public-private advisory boards and councils at the Department; and efforts to catalogue the nation's critical resources and assets.
