Message of Congressman Rob Bishop

America is blessed with an abundance of public lands that are rich in natural resources and can provide recreational opportunities unmatched elsewhere on earth. If managed wisely, these lands can make a major contribution to our quality of life, our national security, and our economic well-being. Since coming to Congress in 2003, I have had the honor of representing the hard working families of the 1st Congressional District in Utah. In the 110th Congress, I was selected to serve as the Ranking Republican Member on the Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests, and Public Lands.

In that capacity, I have worked to ensure that we expand opportunities for all Americans to enjoy our beautiful public lands while meeting the urgent the need to secure reliable, domestic sources of energy, minerals, forest products, and food. As Subcommittee Ranking Member I have fought to protect private property rights coast to coast from the growing threat of overbearing regulation and eminent domain abuse. Together with Ranking Member Don Young, we have introduced legislation to prepare our National Parks for the future and have worked in committee to focus resources on existing responsibilities.

I hope you will find the information on this web site helpful in gaining a better understanding of our membership, our views, and our work on major issues. Our goal is to ensure that we use our resources wisely so we can provide for our families today while leaving our land in even better shape than we found it for the benefit of future generations of Americans. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or comments.
