The jurisdiction of the House Judiciary Committee and its five subcommittees reaches into every aspect of society; from the economy to our constitutional rights. The issues the Committee oversees include court procedures, intellectual property, crime, the Constitution, immigration, antitrust, administrative law, and many more.
Over the years, the Judiciary Committee has played a central role in the House of Representatives’ consideration of a wide array of important policy debates. For this reason, the Committee has historically attracted some of the best legal minds in Congress. Former Judiciary Committee leaders include Daniel Webster and James Buchanan, who went on to become President.
As the Ranking Republican Member on the Committee, I am committed to ensuring that federal law enforcement agencies have the necessary resources to prevent terrorist attacks; that America’s borders are secure; that our nation’s children are safe from sexual predators and violent crime; and that taxpayer dollars are utilized effectively and efficiently.
I look forward to debating and passing legislation that is good for our nation and benefits the American people.
