Houston, TX - Rep. Gene Green (D-Texas) and dozens of community volunteers helped more than 300 prospective Americans fill out and send their citizenship applications on June 9.
“It was a moving experience to see these men and women take a huge step toward accomplishing their goal. Some of them have been waiting many years to have the opportunity to even apply,” Green said.
The 13th annual Citizenship Day event took place at the Houston Community College Northeast campus in the Northline Mall in Houston, where people began lining up well before the official 8:00 a.m. start time.
“Thanks to the number of people who volunteered, we helped more people today than we have at previous Citizenship Days,” Green said. “Hopefully next year we can get to an even greater number, especially if we have more volunteers,” he added.
