WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today Congresswoman Lois Capps led a delegation of Women’s Caucus Members as they honored our women military service members with a special wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. This was the 10th year that the Women’s Caucus has held this annual event. As part of the ceremony the Women’s Caucus recognized outstanding women military members representing the different branches of the armed forces. The ceremony was held at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial in Arlington National Cemetery.
“For the past 10 years, my colleagues from the Women’s Caucus have come together across party lines to observe Memorial Day and pay special tribute to our female service members and veterans in a special ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery,” said Capps. “Each year I am struck by the bravery and sacrifice demonstrated by these women. They are remarkable individuals who’ve made important contributions in defense of our country. As our nation observes Memorial Day this year, a solemn day made more somber by the grievous losses we continue to experience in Iraq and Afghanistan, I hope all Americans take this time to honor our military heroes.”
