SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA – Congresswoman Lois Capps announced today a federal grant totaling almost $1.9 million for a transportation project at the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport. The federal grant will provide funding for the second phase of constructing a new access road, which is necessary to provide greater capacity and access to airport facilities and enhance safety for vehicular traffic entering and exiting the Airport.
"This is great news for our airport and the greater San Luis Obispo community,” said Capps. “The federal funding will help the airport complete an important transportation project and maintain its high quality of service to its passengers and employees.”
“This latest grant of $1.9 million coupled with the grant of nearly $3 million received in June, will allow us to make major access and interior roadway improvements at the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport,” said Airport Manager Klaasje Nairne. “Not only will these improvements serve the current terminal area, but are designed to also serve the new terminal area of the future.”
