Scott Hosts Teen Summit on Youth Violence in Surry

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (D-VA-03), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security of the House Judiciary Committee, announced today that he will be hosting a Teen Summit on Youth Violence on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 in Surry. The summit will discuss the causes of and possible solutions to the growing epidemic of youth violence in our communities. 

The summit format will allow young people to interact directly with elected officials and experts on youth violence, with the goal of providing all in attendance with a better understanding of this problem. The Honorable Jerrauld C. Jones, Chief Judge, Norfolk Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, 4th Judicial District of Virginia; and Professor Robert E. Shepherd, Jr., Faculty Emeriti, University of Richmond, will join Congressman Scott on the panel.
