Rep. Scott Receives A+ on Issues Affecting the Middle Class

WASHINGTON, DC - Themiddleclass.org has recently awarded Representative Robert C. “Bobby” Scott, (D-VA-3) with the highest possible performance grade for his 2007 voting record.  Themiddleclass.org is a public policy project initiated by the non-partisan Drum Major Institute for Public Policy (DMI).  Since 2003 themiddleclass.org has issued annual scorecards analyzing the impact of domestic legislation on America’s current and aspiring middle class and evaluating Members of Congress based on their votes on this legislation.

All 435 Members of the House of Representatives were given a grade based on their voting record in 2007 involving 10 pieces of legislation.  The legislation involved the areas most important to the middle class, including health care, education, workplace and job creation, government accountability, tax fairness, energy and environment, and housing.

Rep. Scott was given an A+ because he voted in support of the middle class position on all 10 pieces of legislation.  “It reflects that the issues important to the middle class are important to me as well,” Rep. Scott said in response to the scorecard.
