Rep. Scott Announces Additional Funding for the
Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Hospital in Richmond

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (D-VA-3) announced today that the Department of Veterans Affairs approved a construction project for $6.787 million for the Hunter Holmes McGuire Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, Virginia.  The funding for the Rehabilitation Center is the number one priority for the Department in 2008 out of twenty-six minor construction projects designed to improve access and services within the Veterans Health Administration.  Rep. Scott released the following statement on the Department’s announcement:

“I commend the Department of Veterans Affairs for making the Polytrauma Transitional Rehabilitation Center its top priority for a minor construction appropriation.  The Center in Richmond is one of only four facilities in the country that provides intensive rehabilitative care to service members and veterans who experienced severe injuries, especially brain injuries.  The Department’s investment will enable the Center to remain a national leader in providing quality rehabilitative care.  More importantly, the investment will enable the Center to better assist the many brave men and women injured while honorably serving their country and who now need their country to help them recover.”
