Rep. Scott to Host Screening of
The Great Warming at Norfolk State University

(Washington D.C.) - Congressman Robert C. "Bobby" Scott (D-VA-03) will host a screening of the film "The Great Warming" at the Mills E. Godwin Student Center, Ballroom A, at Norfolk State University on Monday, July 31, 2006 at 6:30 p.m.

"The Great Warming" is a film that reveals how a changing climate is affecting the lives of people all over the world. The film includes commentary on global warming from scientists, religious leaders, a former CIA chief, and other opinion-makers. Endorsed by numerous environmental groups, churches, and evangelical groups, the film is significant not only for its content but for the way it highlights the growing concern about global warming from across the ideological spectrum.

Along with presenting strong scientific evidence about global warming, the film also covers how evangelical Christians and other people of faith are working with secular advocacy groups and scientists to push decision-makers to take action.

Following the film, Congressman Scott will lead a panel from the science, environmental advocacy, and religious communities in a discussion of the environmental and moral implications of global warming on our community, our nation and the planet.

"We can no longer ignore the evidence of the strains mankind has placed on our fragile planet and we can no longer put off the need to address this serious global problem," said Rep. Scott.

The screening will be open to the public and will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.
