Rep. Scott Holds Head Start Roundtable in Hampton Roads

(Washington D.C.) - Congressman Robert C. "Bobby" Scott , (D-VA-3), has invited Head Start leaders and the parents of Head Start students to a roundtable discussion in Newport News, Virginia, to discuss the re-authorization of the highly-touted, national child care/pre-school  program in the 110th Congress.

"Congress is re-authorizing the Head Start program, and I believe it’s important to get feedback from those people who work with Head Start on a daily basis and from those parents whose children are participants in Head Start. It is imperative that we find out what works and what improvements we need to make in Head Start programs as we move through the re-authorization process," said Rep. Scott.

The Education and Labor Committee will markup the re-authorization of the Head Start bill called "Improving Head Start Act of 2007" next week.

The Head Start Roundtable will be held Monday, March 7, 2007, from, 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 at the Office of Human Affairs, 610 Hampton Avenue, Newport News, VA 23607.
