Nadler Brings Over $43 Million in Transportation Funds to New York

Washington, DC -- Representative Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), a member of the House Transportation Committee, today successfully added over $43 million in transportation funds for New York City to the Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (TEA-LU), the legislation that authorizes federal transportation programs. The funding will go toward transportation projects in New York City, including road improvements and critical other projects that will strengthen and expand different modes of transportation for New Yorkers.

"This federal funding will provide the resources we need to target some of our most critical transportation priorities," said Nadler. "These projects, which are good for our economy and environment, are vital in reducing congestion in the City and improving our quality of life."

Nadler's efforts resulted in the following transportation projects to be added to TEA-LU:

  • Coney Island Boardwalk: $3.2 million
  • High Line Project: $5 million
  • Governors Island: $4million
  • New York Water Taxi Docks: $4.6 million
  • Batter Park City Bikeway: $2 million
  • Times & Duffy Square Improvements: $3.6 million
  • Coney Island Intermodal Improvements: $3.6 million
  • Passenger Ship Terminal Access: $4 million
  • Lincoln Center Area Improvements: $5 million
  • West 79th Street Rotunda: $2 million
  • Safe Routes to Schools Projects: $3 million
  • Study of Goods Movement along I-278: $1.5 million
  • Pratt Institute Transportation Planning: $1 million
  • Lower Manhattan Infrastructure Public Awareness Program: $600,000
