Nadler to Oppose Iraq War Funding That Lacks Timetable

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Jerrold Nadler (NY-08), a member of the Out of Iraq Caucus, today announced he will vote against the President’s requested funding for the Iraq war. Although the latest version of the funding bill includes some accountability measures originally opposed by the President, Rep. Nadler could not support it because it did not go far enough toward bringing the war to an end.

"The President’s war in Iraq continues to waste resources, unnecessarily cost lives, and ignore the real threat from Islamic terrorists," said Rep. Nadler. "Without demanding real accountability from the Bush Administration, we fail to honor the commitment and sacrifice of those bravely serving in our armed forces."

In a related matter, Rep. Nadler will vote for an amendment that would increase the minimum wage for the first time in a decade, expand health care for members of the military, veterans and children and continue Katrina recovery efforts.
