New York State Court of Appeals rejects gay marriage, punts to legislature
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The “This is a sad day for families, a sad day for justice, and a sad day in the struggle for equal rights for all Americans. The promise that, in this nation, all people are created equal, and entitled to equal rights, compels us to end discrimination against same-sex couples. Today, the Court of Appeals has failed to take that stand. Who will stand up for equal justice in The rights of LGBT families are already under attack in The time to act is now. It is imperative that the state legislature protect families’ rights before its hands are tied by an immoral Congress and a President sworn to the agenda of the radical right. There is no excuse for inaction, nor for delay. Come what may, we will continue to fight for equality, dignity, and recognition of lesbian and gay Americans and their families. We will challenge discrimination and we will work to fulfill the true American values of tolerance and justice.” ### |
