Nadler Announces New Director of Washington Office

New York -- Representative Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) is very pleased to announce that he has hired a new Director of his Washington, D.C. office. John Doty, who has served in Nadler's Washington office for the past ten years, worked as the Congressman's Legislative Director for five years before being promoted to the position of Washington Director.

"I am thrilled that John Doty will be my new Washington Director," said Nadler. "John has been a tremendous asset to my office for the past ten years, and I know he will continue to serve the people of the 8th Congressional District with honor and distinction."

Doty has experience working on high-profile national issues including the impeachment of President Clinton, the response to the September 11th attacks, and creation of the Department of Homeland Security. He worked with Rep. Nadler on legislation that successfully passed the House of Representatives to increase funding for Section 8 housing and has also helped pass legislation on defense, education, and judiciary issues.

Doty was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated cum laude from Middlebury College, where he was active in student government, campus organizations, and the college newspaper. In 1992, he spent the summer in rural Mexico as a health volunteer for Amigos de las Americas. Before joining Rep. Nadler’s office, Doty worked for the Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) and as a paralegal in both New York and Washington, D.C.

Doty, who also held the positions of Legislative Assistant and Legislative Correspondent, began his career in Nadler's office in 1994 as a Legislative Intern. As Washington Director, Doty will manage Nadler's Washington, D.C. office. In this capacity, he will advise the Congressman on his legislative agenda and political decisions.

"John Doty was an outstanding Legislative Director and I know he'll also be an excellent Washington Director," said Nadler. "I am very pleased to have him as a leader of my D.C. team."

Doty takes over for Brett Heimov, who accepted a position as a Government Relations Executive with the Dutko Group in Washington, D.C.
